2021 The GOV WFAV Fundraising Concert
Funds from the 2021 The Gov WFAV event will support an exhibition of photos from our event earlier this year; SmartBar Walk for a Veteran with PTSD. We will ask people to submit a photo from the walk and include a caption about the photo and why they walk and support veterans and the emergency services. We will choose 15 of them to be framed and presented as a SALA exhibition at the Henley and Grange RSL.
2021 SmartBar Walk for a Veteran with PTSD
Saturday 28th August 2021
Mt Crawford Bennett's Reserve, Chain of Ponds SA
Walk for a Veteran Inc in conjunction with Forestry SA and Heroes on the Homefront, will hold the 2021 SmartBar Walk for a Veteran with PTSD on Saturday 28th August 2021 entirely within the Mt Crawford Bennett's Reserve in the northern Adelaide Hills, located 33km north east from the Adelaide CBD.
A 10km loop has been created totally on the trails of the Reserve, of which 1/3 will be on the renowned Heysen Trail. The course will rise to 450m above sea level and provide some incredible views over the valleys below. Secure camping sites will be available on the Friday and Saturday night, with off-road parking provided. Emergency medical support will be across the 10km course from 6am Saturday.
We are giving individuals the option of completing one, two, three or four laps of the course. Teams can complete the 40km as a team of 2 or 4 each completing one or two 10km laps. The start and finish of each lap will be from the same location, which will be the venue for the post event activities.
Registration fees are:
10km per person (team of 4) $30 per person
20km per person (team of 2) $45 per person
2021 will see the introduction of the first after walk concert starting at 2pm. We will have something for everyone with Hollow Coves (QLD) joining some amazing SA artists, such as Germein, The Timbers, Cosmo Thundercat, Jordan D'Sena, Horse Lords, Yorke Heath, and Lucinda Grace from the Adelaide Hills. Yorke Heath and Mark Aiston will be our Masters of Ceremonies across the day. We are inviting non walking general public to join walkers for the concert which will go well into the evening, to show support for our veterans and emergency services.
The walk and festival aims to draw attention to the physical and mental health issues that affect many military and emergency services personnel and their families. We want to provide all that attend an opportunity to show their support and gain some further insight into these issues. 100% of the profit from the event is donated to our chosen charities.
Our chosen charities in 2021 will be Trojans Trek, Hearts 4 Heros, Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation (APFF), and CFS Foundation – SA.
